We paddle into sea caves and chasms beneath dolerite cliffs up to 150 m high. The rugged coastline surrounding Lagoon Bay Camp at Bangor is wild and unspoilt, dramatic rock formations sculpted by the Tasman Sea covered in brilliant orange lichen. For first time kayakers, we paddle in the sheltered half-moon shaped bay and pull up at our private camp on the beach for lunch and an afternoon swim. Offshore islands for the more experienced, ancient kelp forests beneath clear turquoise water and protected inlets… a kayakers’ wonderland. Combine this naturally spectacular scene with the sight of soaring sea eagles above, albatross and abundant sea life. All trips accompanied by experienced and accredited guides. |

If peacefully wandering along deserted beaches picking up seashells appeals to you, the southeast region of Tasmania will provide spectacular scenery and dozens of secluded coves. We explore pristine intertidal sands littered with myriad species. Follow their characteristic trails in the sand and wait in the twilight to watch the fairy penguins return from the surf to nestle together in the dunes. The beachcomber may encounter sea eagles, pelicans, diving and shallow wading birds and even wombats casually grazing on the dune vegetation. Who knows what other natural wonders may pass you by. Sea urchins, cuttlefish, chitons, fly-spotted cone
shells, oysters, scallops, white abalone, keyhole limpets,
tiny silver kelp shells washed up in their thousands
and great screw shells are just some of the shells you
could discover as you wander peacefully along high tide
mark on secluded sandy beaches without another soul in
sight. |
